As I write this it is the 27th Dec and if you have year 11 and/or year 13, make sure they rest. This is effectively their last restful holiday before the exams in six months time. Easter will be spent revising. So I always say to my students that they should enjoy Christmas and get plenty of rest.
The next few months are going to be stressful and families need to be supportive. It needs to be made clear to your children that whilst these exams are important, they are not the be all and end all of life. Some years ago in South Wales there was a spate of teenage suicides so make sure your youngster has one night (Friday is probably best) and ast least two sessions of physical activity each week. The activity helps burn off stress and is worth the effort.
I will talk more about this as we get into the spring term but for now, let them doss, let them be kids and play music, chat to their mates because the next few months of their lives will be challenging, so right now, let them be kids.
